CASE STUDY: VIDEO PRODUCTION FOR SaaS

SaaS Video Production Case Study: Cloud 4

When your website explains everything, but prospects still don’t get it

How five brand films helped a Manchester IT and cybersecurity company earn trust before the first phone call.

Client: Cloud 4 Computing Industry: Cybersecurity & IT Support Deliverables: Five fully scripted brand films, one homepage film, four outreach films Filmed at: Clockwise, Manchester

The problem with being good at what you do

Cloud 4 sells something you can’t see. There’s no product to hold, no showroom to visit, just the promise that when something goes wrong with your IT, or someone tries to get into your systems, they’ll be the ones who stop it.

That’s the same problem every SaaS company has. The service is invisible until you buy it, so trust has to arrive before the sale does.

Cloud 4’s expertise was solid. Their client results were strong. But none of that came through before the first call. Prospects would land on the website, read through the explanations, and still leave without a clear sense of who they were dealing with.

The words were all there. The feeling wasn’t.

Phil Donoghue, Cloud 4’s founder, knew video could help. What he needed was someone to work out exactly what kind of video and what it needed to say.

Strategy before cameras

Every brief we take starts with the same question: what does a prospect need to feel, not know, before they pick up the phone?

For Cloud 4, the answer was in two halves. Visitors needed to meet the person behind the promise. And they needed to understand a technical threat quickly enough to care about it. That gave us two very different films.

Film one: the homepage film

The homepage film puts Phil’s founder story alongside footage of the systems his team actually works in, two things most production companies treat as separate. Together, they give a visitor a fast, human read of both the service and the people behind it. Thirty seconds in, you know who Cloud 4 are and why they do this. That’s the introduction the website copy couldn’t make on its own.

The outreach films: making an invisible threat visible

Phishing is a hard thing to sell protection against, because most business owners have never watched it happen. So we didn’t explain it, we showed it, using a fishing analogy anyone can picture in a second. The bait, the hook, the moment you realise what’s on the line. Supporting footage of Cloud 4’s platform keeps the story grounded in the real service.

The result is a complex cybersecurity threat made concrete and urgent, without a single line of jargon. Phil’s team now sends these films ahead of sales conversations, so prospects arrive already understanding the problem Cloud 4 solves.

Cloud 4. Outreach

Using a clever fishing analogy and supporting B-roll, we turn a complex cyber security problem into something audiences instantly understand.

Cloud 4. Outreach

Notice how we use additional footage of the platform in action to emphasise the service and make the value clearer to potential customers.

The three questions every buyer is really asking

When someone watches a brand film, they’re not consciously evaluating it. They’re running a faster check:

01 — Do these people know what they’re doing?

02 — Can I trust them with something that matters?

03 — Will working with them make my life easier?

If a film doesn’t answer those three things, it won’t move a sale forward — no matter how well it’s shot. That’s why we script before we schedule.
